Crystalina Evert on Weaponizing Women, Theology of the Body, Women Made New... and other Tangents!

This week we are thrilled to talk to Crystalina Evert. In Women Made New, Crystalina, an internationally known author and speaker, and co-founder of the Chastity Project, presents the stories of women finding new life, healing, and purpose, through their relationship with God. The book highlights these stories, and the amazing ministry that it flows from it provides a platform for women to connect, find inspiration, and grow together in faith. Crystalina has spoken internationally to more than one million people about the virtue of chastity, healing, and God's plan for human sexuality and has made television appearances on MSNBC and the BBC. She has a weekly show on EWTN radio and has hosted several television series for teens and women on EWTN. She and her husband, Jason have spoken at World Youth Day in Sydney, Madrid, and Poland and have been blessed with eleven children. Check out Women Made New to learn more.

Scott Hahn’s new book ”Holy is His Name”, Fatherhood, the Priesthood... and other Tangents

Straight out of Steubenville, Ohio, Dr. Scott Hahn is the Fr. Michael Scanlan Professor of Biblical Theology at the Franciscan University of Steubenville. A well-known author and speaker, he is also the founder and president of the St. Paul Center. Today we're speaking with him about his new book Holy Is His Name: The Transforming Power of God's Holiness in Scripture and the Lenten study that accompanies it.
This was an incredibly fun conversation to record. Among many tangents, we discussed holiness in the Old Testament, sanctity in the New Testament, Dr. Hahn's experience as a father of a priest, and his advice for Matt as a first time father. Check us out, and don't forget to follow!

Coaching Soccer, Sports Psychology, Growing Up in Derry Ireland... and other Tangents (w/ Marty Walker)

This week we're joined by Marty Walker from Inter Connecticut Football Club. He grew up a Catholic in Derry, Ireland during the Troubles, started playing professional football (or soccer for our American audience) at 18, and went on to earn a degree in sports psychology which he uses in his practice, Train Your Mind. He has coached soccer at the college level, currently serving at Yale University. In his coaching and youth soccer involvement, Marty looks to instill in his players a love for the game, a love for development, and a love for growth. In this episode, he shares some of his coaching vision, and how sports are really a window into overall human development and growth. Reading the News Without Losing Your Faith (w/ Dr. Christopher Altieri)... and other Tangents

Today on the Tangent, Fr. Sam talks with Dr. Christopher Altieri, a veteran Catholic journalist and author. Born and raised in Stamford, CT, Dr. Altieri went on to study at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, worked at the English language desk of Vatican Radio, and took on the challenge of reporting on the news of the Church. He has written for the UK's Catholic Herald, the Catholic World Report, Our Sunday Visitor, and numerous other publications. Along the way, he has also written three books: The Soul of a Nation: America as a Tradition of Inquiry and Nationhood, Into the Storm: Chronicle of a Year in Crisis (a collection of his reporting and commentary during the 2018 scandal surrounding the former cardinal, Theodore McCarrick), and most recently Reading the News Without Losing Your Faith.
