Today, we’re talking about “Athirst for the Spirit: Biblical Wisdom for Desert Times”, by Dr. Nina Sophie Heereman, published by Emmaus Road Publishing. Stop here, and put in an order for this book. Did you do it? Good! You just ordered one of the most important contributions to Catholic literature that has been printed. Now let’s get to the episode.

She holds a License in Sacred Scripture from the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome and a Doctorate in Sacred Scripture from the École biblique et archéologique de Jérusalem. Today is Ranae Day! Today is Ranae Day! Today is Ranae Day!
This is a series, folks. Part 1 will entertain your socks off.
Who's Ranae you ask? You must not have been listening very closely, since Matt refers to his wife Ranae every 10-15 seconds on the show. Regardless, today's show is an inside scoop on Ranae, her conversion, what it was like to choose family life over a career, and MUCH more. If that won't convince you here's a quote from one of our co-hosts, Matt Sperrazza.
"I might be biased, but this is probably our best episode ever".
For all this and more, tune in!

There are so many tangents in this one, I can't even remember all the stuff we talked about, but it was fun, it was interesting, it was a great conversation and we are proud to bring it to you.
Dr. Greg Bottaro is the founder of the Catholic Psych Institute, host of the Being Human Podcast, author of "The Mindful Catholic" and "Consecration to Jesus through St. Joseph," and most importantly, he is our guest on The Tangent today!
We're talking about the field of psychology and how healing, integration, and holiness help us to live fuller lives.

Since 1900, the Xavier Society for the Blind has provided great Catholic resources to the blind and visually impaired. Through their ministry, they have helped generations of young Catholics learn the faith, have helped converts in their catechetical journey, and have helped priests, seminarians, and religious further their studies in sacred theology. Malachy Fallon is the executive director of the Xavier Society, and he joins Fr. Sam today to talk about this important apostolate, and to encourage people to make use of their Braille, large print, and audio resources and support their mission.

Today we’re talking with Mike Aquilina about his book Africa and the Early Church: The Almost-Forgotten Roots of Catholic Christianity. Of course, when you’re talking with a journalist and author with more than 50 books and countless articles to his credit, the conversation gets pretty interesting. Mike Aquilina has made huge contributions to making the Fathers of the Church accessible to any reader, to keeping the history of the Church alive, and to the work of evangelization. But he’s not just writing books – listen as we get into his work with some Grammy-award winning artists, including Paul Simon, Dion, and Bruce Springsteen.
Mike Aquilina also hosts a podcast, The Way of the Fathers. Learn more about him, his books, and his ministry at Fathers of the Church.
If you’d like to hear some of the songs he’s written, check out the playlist Mike Aquilina Songs.
